Connect tools and choose a model
Understand the difference between harness software, models, and company tools.
Choose a harness and model
The harness runs the AI employee; the model does the reasoning. Hive currently supports Codex. Use the model choices shown by the connected harness rather than a model name copied from another product.
A more expensive model is not automatically better for every job. Test the same representative task and compare the quality, speed, and cost you observe.
Connect a business tool
Use Connections in the AI employee chat to connect a provider through Composio. Complete the provider's sign-in and permission steps. Check which account you connected, especially if you have both personal and company accounts.
Connecting your AI provider does not connect all your business tools. A Gmail connection does not grant access to your project-management system.
Verify access with a small task
Start with a read-only request using information you are allowed to share. Ask the AI employee to identify what it can access and show a concrete result. Do not begin with a bulk edit or a customer-facing action.
Provider permission scopes are the real access boundary. “Do not send” in a prompt is a useful instruction, but it is not a replacement for restricted credentials or a supported approval control.
Disconnect or delete
Disconnecting a provider requires confirmation. Deleting an AI employee has a hold-to-confirm step and a ten-second undo window. After that window, Hive removes the AI employee's associated session data and attempts to remove its computer and revoke connections specific to that AI employee. Completion is reported only when that cleanup succeeds.
Deleting one AI employee does not mean deleting a workspace-wide harness connection used by other AI employees.
